One Room Challenge, Week 5: Master Bathroom Makeover – The Final Stretch

Whew! This has been one busy week trying to get my master bathroom makeover done in time for next week’s One Room Challenge finale!

I’ve been so busy working on this project that I literally haven’t had a spare moment to do anything else.  My Friday night dinner crew is probably about to revoke my friend status 🙂

After all the issues the last couple of weeks, I was getting a little nervous that I might not have a bathroom to show.  But I’m happy to say this week things went relatively smoothly and I made a lot of progress.

In case you missed the previous weeks, you can find those updates here:

The replacement vanity arrived in one piece

First, the good news on the fixture front.  The replacement vanity (which you can find HERE*) arrived…all in one piece!

And it looks just like I was hoping it would.  So now I just need to move it into the bathroom and have the faucets installed.

I framed the picture using a pretty inexpensive frame that came with a white and black double mat (which you can find HERE*).  Then cleaned the dust off all the accessories that are going back in the room (remember all the thinset dust that was on that black candle holder??).  And found the vase I’m going to use for my “pops of purple” inspiration (You can find it HERE*).

I ordered a storage bench, which will double as a laundry hamper. (You can find it HERE*.) Hopefully, it will arrive in time for the big reveal!

And a console table for under the window (which you can find HERE*)…not a piece of furniture you normally see in the bathroom, but it is the right size and the storage bench will fit nicely under it.

What Else Happened?

Floor and wall tiles | One Room Challenge, Week 5: Master Bathroom Makeover - The Final Stretch

As you may have guessed, the tiling is done! Woo Hoo!! I won’t be planning another tiling project for a while.

However, I love the floor! It turned out exactly as I pictured in my head…good thing, too, since I certainly wasn’t going to take it out if it didn’t 🙂

Silver walls | One Room Challenge, Week 5: Master Bathroom Makeover - The Final Stretch

The walls have been painted silver (you can find the paint HERE*), a little darker and a little shinier than the original paint color. And the crown molding has been painted black (The paint color is Benjamin Moore Onyx). Both add a little more drama to the space.

So What’s Left?

I still have quite a bit left to do before next week…so my weekly dinner friends will be eating without me for one more week 🙂

Here’s the To Do list:

  • Install the toilet, tub and vanity
  • Stencil the walls
  • Put up the medicine cabinets, towel racks, and shelves that I took down
  • Hang the curtain
  • Move in the console table and bench
  • Put back the towels and other bathroom accessories
  • Replace the old shower doors with the new ones

Everything is beautiful..Where did u purchase your floor tile? Its so pretty.

    1. Thank, Mark! The floor tile came from Home Depot online (HERE). They don’t carry it in my local store, but I think they do in some areas so you may be able to find it in store, too.

  2. That console table is amazing – happy you got all the tiling done too. Excited to come check out the space all together 🙂

  6. Beautiful tile! Great job, tiling is HARD, last time we tried it my husband ended up in urgent care with a giant slice down his forearm requiring lots of stitches. So super kudos to you for being able to do it without an emergency visit. Can’t wait to see what your stenciled walls look like to, well done!

    1. Thanks, Tina! I’m adding “happy I didn’t end up in urgent care” to my list of things to be thankful for now that the tiling is over 🙂 I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of the room will come together smoothly and I’ll get everything done in time!

  7. Wow, this is looking amazing! And I love the pieces you have selected to finish it off. I can’t wait to see the reveal next week – good luck!
