Bedroom with aqua walls and a gray bed

Aqua is has been a trending color for the past couple of years, so it’s not much of a surprise to see it showing up in bedrooms.

It’s a light, peaceful color that evokes feelings of tranquility and relaxation. If you’re looking for the perfect bedroom to help you unwind after a long day, then an aqua-themed room could be just what you need.

This color also represents renewal and optimism, and can be used in small spaces without feeling too overwhelming or dark.

Paired with white or light gray, it has a modern feel that still looks put together and balanced.

2 | Monochromatic blue

Using a color palette that doesn’t have a lot of contrast usually creates a more relaxing room than a high contrast color scheme would.

Which is why a monochromatic blue bedroom always feels so peaceful and serene. Not only is the color relaxing, but so is the way it is being used.

Which is what they did in this room that has walls, bedding and curtains all in the same shade of blue.

3 | Sky blue

Light blue is another color that brings feelings of peace and serenity. Many people find that it helps to reduce stress and anxiety, making it a great color for helping you to sleep better.

Since it’s similar to the color of the sky, it goes perfectly with other nature-inspired colors (like green) and patterns (such as florals).

4 | Light blue ceiling and trim

For a different take on the light blue color scheme, I love this idea of painting the ceiling, trim and furniture blue.

Having the light blue on the ceiling almost feels like you’re looking up at the sky.

Repeating it on the trim and the furniture ties the whole room together and adds some interest, even when all of the walls are painted white.

5 | Warmer blues

If you want to make sure your bedroom doesn’t feel too cold, stick to the warmer blue tones that are leaning towards purple.

They pair well with both whites and grays.

This bedroom combines all three colors together for an elegant and modern look.

6 | Royal blue and white

For people who like rich, bold colors, royal blue may be just what you are looking for.

It creates a statement, especially when paired with crisp white accents, lamps and bedding.

7 | Royal blue and gray

If you like the idea of royal blue but want to tone it down a bit, consider pairing it with gray. It’s a lower contrast combination so it brings a little less energy to the space.

Adding wainscoting and picture molding to the walls also helps to break up a large expanse of bright blue so it doesn’t feel so overwhelming.

8 | Navy blue and gray

Navy blue is another elegant color that works well in the bedroom (and looks good with gray).

Painting it on the walls (and ceiling) makes the room feel like its surrounded by the night sky.

South Georgia Style painted Sherwin Williams 2020 color of the year, Naval on the walls to create a moody feel in their master bedroom. They warn that it may take a few coats to get the desired color, but it’s definitely worth the effort!

Pairing it with gray bedding and white trim continues the relaxing feel.

9 | Dramatic accent wall

If you prefer something bolder or are going for a more glamorous aesthetic, try pairing a dramatic blue with metallic accents and luxury finishes.

Savannah from Classy Clutter did this by creating a wooden accent wall behind the bed and painting it with Behr’s Wanderlust.

The gold bed frame, white leather headboard and glam throw pillows make her master bedroom look like a high-end hotel.

10 | Blue and white toile

For a bedroom that has some pattern but still feels serene, try blue and while toile. (It’s one of my favorite fabrics!)

In the original version of my master bedroom, I combined toile wallpaper panels and curtains with a light periwinkle blue paint on the walls.

It created a very pretty room with a traditional look that is still one of my favorite designs.

11 | Blue and white lattice wall

This bedroom uses the same blue and white toile for the bedding.

But they painted the walls ivory, and added darker blue panels that are covered with white lattice.

Combined with the ginger jar lamp, this gives the room a completely different look that has more of an oriental style.

12 | Teal and toile bedroom

Of course, toile can be glamorous, too!

Combined with a teal velvet headboard, bedding and a curtain behind the bed, this bedroom definitely has a luxurious feel.

13 | Glam blue and silver bedroom decor

If you’re looking for a bedroom design idea that’s modern, yet calming, then blue and silver is the perfect color scheme for your room.

Silver adds luxury and opulence without being too bright. It doesn’t distract from the colors around it while also reflecting light from other sources such as lamps or candles.

The blue and silver together create a tranquil atmosphere which will help calm both your mind and body after a long day at work or school.

14 | Blue mountain wall mural

If you want to add more interest to your walls without spending a lot of money, paint a mountain wall mural in shades of blue.

All you need are a few shades of blue going from dark to light.

Then start with the darkest color for the front mountain range. And go a shade lighter for each subsequent layer. It creates a 3-D effect that makes the mountains look like they are fading into the distance.

15 | Blue ombre bedroom walls

For a technique that is a little less structured but just as effective, try painting your bedroom walls in a blue ombre pattern.

It still involves using different shades of blue going from dark to light (or light to dark if you prefer). But you don’t have to be exact about the lines.

In fact overlapping the colors makes it look more natural.

That’s it for my blue bedroom decor ideas. Hopefully you’ve found some inspiration to create your own peaceful and serene retreat.
