These sparkling sugared cranberries are super easy to make, look spectacular and taste delicious. The perfect Christmas snack!
When the family is getting together at my house during the holidays, I always like to have bowls of nuts (like these Tamari roasted almonds) and candies (like these homemade turtles) around for people to snack on.
So when I saw these cranberries from Yummy Mummy Kitchen www.yummymummykitchen.com), I knew they would make the perfect addition to our holiday treats.
They are very easy to make (only 3 ingredients!), taste delicious and are a simple, elegant addition to a festive occasion.

How To Make Sparkling Sugared Cranberries
Pour 1 cup of maple syrup into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat for 2 minutes.
Be aware that the syrup should be warm but not boiling. If it is too hot the cranberries will pop.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in 2 cups of fresh cranberries.
Cover the cranberry/maple syrup mixture and chill in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours.
Drain the berries over the sink, in a colander, for 15 minutes.
Cover a cookie sheet with a piece of parchment paper or waxed paper.
Put 1 cup of sugar into a large bowl.
Roll 4 to 5 berries at a time in the sugar, making sure they are coated on all sides.
Put the sugar-coated berries in a single layer onto the cookie sheet.
Then allow the berries to air dry until they are completely dry and the sugar is a little crisp. This will take about 8 to12 hours.
Store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 2 days.
The berries look gorgeous if served as a treat in a crystal dessert glass placed on a side table for guests to help themselves.
Or as a festive addition to a cheese board.
