Rice Pilaf is a traditional dish that adds extra flavor to standard rice (and I love it!) However the standard rice pilaf recipes require some extra steps in the cooking process that add time and effort to the meal preparation…and because of that I almost never made it. Then I discovered that you can make a simplified rice pilaf that tastes almost as good as the traditional recipe but doesn’t take any more time than standard rice…a win, win situation in my books!

What You Need
1 cup basmati rice (or other white rice)
1½ cups chicken stock
1 teaspoon of minced garlic (or 1 clove garlic, minced)
3 or 4 sprigs of fresh thyme or 1 tsp of dried thyme
1 tsp dried parsley
1 bay leaf
Pots and Utensils
1 small pot with a lid
Putting The Rice Together
1. Heat the chicken stock to boiling in the pot.
2. Add the rice and stir so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot.
4. Reduce the heat to low.
5. Cover the rice with a lid.
6. Cook for 15 minutes.
Remove the bay leaves from the rice and serve hot. You will be amazed at how much flavor a few easy spices can add!
