Appletini Mocktail

This easy appletini mocktail recipe is a non alcoholic version of an apple martini. And it tastes so good, I almost prefer it to the real thing!

If I’m having friends over and some of them don’t drink (or they’re a designated driver), I love to make them feel included by serving virgin cocktails that are similar to whatever my drink of the day is.

So whenever I’m making my favorite appletini recipe, this is the non alcoholic appletini that I serve with it.

It’s made with the same basic ingredients as the original (without the vodka and apple schnapps of course!)

But it has the same beautiful green color that looks great in a martini glass.

In fact, they look so much alike that I serve the non alcoholic martini and the alcoholic one in 2 different styles of glasses so I can always tell them apart.

This recipe only has 3 ingredients (plus some ice):

  • apple juice
  • lemon juice – freshly squeezed lemon juice tastes best
  • granny smith apple syrup* – this gives it the beautiful green color and adds a little tartness to the taste
  • ice cubes

Some people like to put in a little simple syrup but I find it a little too sweet. Feel free to add it if you prefer.

How to make a virgin appletini

I like to make this apple mocktail just like a real martini – in a cocktail shaker.

That’s not really necessary but I think it makes everyone feel like they’re getting a special drink.

This recipe makes two drinks.

Pour 3 ounces apple juice, 2 ounces of lemon juice and 2 ounces of granny smith green apple syrup into a cocktail shaker (or mixing cup if you’re not going the fancy route).

Add in a few ice cubes.

Shake (or stir) until everything is cold and well-mixed.

Pour into 2 martini glasses.

Enjoy!

If you’re having a party and you want to make a bunch of these in advance, you can mix them up in a pitcher as follows:

This can be made a few hours ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.

I don’t usually add ice since it waters down the flavor.

Garnishes

If you want to serve your martini mocktail with a garnish, you can use the same ones as you would for an appletini:

  • rim the glass with sugar
  • cut a granny smith apple into thin slices and float one apple slice in the drink
  • cut a granny smith apple into wedges and put one on the edge of each glass.

Notes

To make a big batch:
  • combine 3 cups apple juice, 2 cups lemon juice and 2 cups of granny apple smith syrup in a pitcher.
  • Stir until combined.
  • Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Avoid adding ice since it waters the taste down.
Garnishes
  • use green rimming sugar or slices or wedges of granny smith apples for garnish
