Welcome to From House to Home®! I’m so happy you’re here.

This is where I share all the decorating tips, DIY projects, and ideas I’ve learned over 35 years of transforming builder-grade homes into something truly special.

My mission? To help you create a home you LOVE—no matter the size or budget.

I’ve lived in (and completely overhauled!) all kinds of homes, from an 800-square-foot row house built in the early 1900s to a new 750-square-foot townhouse (in Toronto, Canada), an 1100-square-foot garden apartment (in South Florida), and now a 1750-square-foot suburban home (in Greenville, SC).

The two things they all have in common?

  1. None of them are mansions.
  2. And they were all very boring architecturally. (Builder-grade or cookie-cutter is how most people would describe them).

Since cookie cutter has never been a description I wanted for my house, I set out to make them look and feel like my dream home. Without a dream house budget.

Which means lots of DIY projects and easy decorating tips with a few well-placed splurges along the way.

I love doing it so much that I started my own interior decorating business in 2006. (I am no longer taking new clients).

And I also earned an interior decorating certificate from Greenville Technical College.

But honestly, the best lessons have come from years of hands-on experience.

My design philosophy

I believe your home is your haven so you should decorate it with whatever colors, patterns and styles make you happy.

Personally, my motto is “No white walls!” (or ceilings for that matter!). I’m all about bold colors, glam decor, and making every room feel custom.

Even though my home started as a cookie-cutter builder-grade house, it’s now a colorful, personalized haven that I love.

Oh, and did I mention I’m a maximalist?

I love layering decor to make spaces feel cozy, luxurious, and uniquely mine.

And I’m not doing this alone! My mom—yes, my amazing 85+ year-old mom—is part of the blog, too.

She’s been decorating and doing DIY projects practically her whole life. (She’s the one who got me started).

Now, she lives in a tiny 750-square-foot house that’s painted purple on the outside (how cool is that?) and bursting with color inside.

She’s proof that style has no age or size limits.

And she shares her projects and wisdom here, too.
