Purple And Pink Christmas Tree
This purple and pink Christmas tree uses a non-traditional color scheme to create a festive and cheery look that’s perfect for the holidays.
It is no secret that I love purple so it is inevitable that I would some day decide I needed to have a purple themed Christmas tree.
I put it up in my home library and it compliments the purple/pink décor there perfectly.
I think having the room and the tree coordinate creates a warm cohesive look that always looks good.
Here are the steps I took to make that happen.
Supplies
These are the ornaments that I used on my 7-foot pencil tree.
I like extensive coverage so I used a lot of ornaments.
The number you need may vary depending on how big your tree is and how many you like to put on it.
You can find the sources in the section below.
Materials
- 7′ slim white artificial tree with white lights – You don’t have to use a white tree, but I do think the colors show up better with white as the background.
- various 4″ purple themed ball ornaments in different shades of purple – I used about 80 of them
- various 2″ to 3″ purple and pink balls – I used around 120 of these.
- 12 long pink and purple glass ornaments
- 12 purple and pink clip on fabric camellias – Poinsettias would also work.
- 2.5″ wide fuchsia ribbon
- 8″ wide sparkling purple micro mesh
- purple and fuchsia ribbon for bow topper
- tree skirt
Tools
- Bowdabra bow maker tool* – I love this tool for making bows, especially since I can never seem to get them to look right when I try to make them without it.

How to decorate the purple and pink tree
Step 1 | Fluff it
Assemble the tree and then take time to fluff the branches.
Work around the tree in rows, straitening and separating the twigs so that there are no big spaces between the branch ends.
It always surprises me how long this takes but it is an important step to making your tree look good in the end.
Step 2 | Add ribbon
When you are satisfied with how the tree looks bare, start by adding the ribbon and micro mesh.
Begin at the top of the tree with the mesh, and tuck it among the branches so that there are puffs sticking out here and there.
Hold the indents in place by bending a wire twig end over it.
Do the same with the ribbon, starting at the top and winding it around the tree in the opposite direction to the mesh.
Angle the mesh and ribbon downward with the ribbon crossing the mesh at intervals.
Pull loops of ribbon to the front so that it will be visible when the tree is fully decorated.
Step 3 | Hang large ornaments
Next hang the largest balls. It’s easier to find spots for them when you don’t have a lot of other things on the tree yet.
Push a few into the branches to add depth to your tree. The white tree needles will make the balls look transparent and add mystery to finished product.
Then add the long finial ornaments.
Step 4 | Add smaller ornaments
I had a lot of 3″ balls in different shades and patterns of purple and pink.
I hung those now, mixing up the color distribution.
Fill any gaps with smaller balls.
Step 5 | Put up flower ornaments
Now you can clip on the pink and purple flower ornaments here and there around the tree.
The fabric adds texture and sparkle which provides contrast with all the smooth balls.
Step 6 | Make the bow tree topper
For a tree topper, I made a large bow in the same color ribbon as on the tree.
My Bowdabra tool* makes this an easy job. The bows turn out every time!
The finished tree
I put down a coordinating tree skirt but by the time I added the presents you really can’t see it.
Wrapping the gifts in paper and ribbon that matches the tree colors makes sure that they also compliment the surroundings.
My room and purple/pink themed tree looks festive and very pretty.
It makes me smile every time I walk passed. I hope you found some ideas and like it as much as I do!
