Get ready to see the most popular paint colors of 2024 plus the color of the year from all of the major paint companies. Find out the blues and new peach colors (plus a few others) that are trending this year and how they can make your home feel fresh and fun.
It’s one of my favorite times of the year.
All of the major paint companies have released their selections for trending 2024 paint colors, and we get to see what they think will be popular.
There are some colors returning from past years, some that have completely dropped off the list and some that are brand new.
And this year’s picks offer a spectrum of inspiration, from serene tones that promise to soothe the soul to dynamic shades that energize and uplift.
Whether it’s to express your unique style, enhance the mood of a room, or even to boost a home’s resale value, these trending colors are more than just paint—they’re a personal statement, a nod to contemporary design movements, and a reflection of our collective psyche.
But remember that while trends can be a guiding light, the true magic happens when color choices resonate with you and your space, making your home a true reflection of who you are.
So follow the ones that you would love even if they weren’t trending, and avoid the others. (Those are the ones you’ll probably be tired of in a year or two).

In case you’re just looking for the take-aways, here’s the summary version of this year’s trends.
- Blue, blue and more blue! If you’re a blue lover like me, it will be very easy to find a trending color you like in 2024.
- Last year‘s terracotta trend continues, but with more orange tones, including the lighter peach colors.
- Similarly beige and other warm neutrals are still trending, replacing cooler grays.
- Yellow shades (most with an orange tint) are on the rise, after not being on the list at all last year.
- Dark neutrals (black and brown) are popular, particularly those with strong color undertones such as green and red.
- A notable trend is the combination of the two leading colors, blue and terracotta or peach, creating a fresh and stylish palette for contemporary spaces.
- For the first time in many years, there are almost no greens in the trending colors. Although some of the popular colors (such as the blues and blacks) have a strong green influence.
- Similarly, red does not appear in the list this year, after being a strong trend last year.
- Like last year, there’s also a noticeable decline in the use of grays, purples, and pinks.
1 | Gray Blue
Gray blue paint colors are the first group of trending blues for 2024.
These colors can be used as a neutral instead of gray, bringing a serene and calming presence to any room.
The subtle gray undertones ensure the hue remains understated, preventing it from dominating the space.
When paired with white or black, Gray Blue creates a crisp and harmonious look, that is a great choice for both contemporary and traditional spaces.
Sherwin Williams color of the year – Upward
The Sherwin Williams color of the year ‘Upward’ is a perfect example of a lighter Gray Blue.
It’s a really pretty soft blue that they describe as a mix of denim blue and calm gray.
This makes it feel peaceful and easy to look at.
It pairs well with warm whites or soft grays
Benjamin Moore 2024 color of the year – Blue Nova
Benjamin Moore‘s color of the year is Blue Nova which is on the darker end of the blue gray range.
This particular color reflects a growing trend towards embracing more vibrant and expressive shades in interior spaces.
It’s a beautiful mix of violet and blue that has a timeless charm which can make any room feel special.
Many other paint companies included a Gray Blue in their 2024 trending paint colors lists so there are quite a few other options to choose from.
2 | Green Blue
Green Blue paint colors evoke the serenity and vastness of the ocean, bringing a calming, nature-inspired ambiance to any space.
Which is probably why some variation of them always seems to be popular.
These hues are particularly well suited for creating a tranquil retreat in bedrooms and bathrooms, offering a soothing backdrop for relaxation.
But also make an inviting color for a front door, where it creates a relaxing look before you even get in the house.
Dunn Edwards color of the year – Skipping Stones
The Dunn Edwards color of the year is a medium-toned green blue called Skipping Stones.
It reminds me of the ocean and how it can be both super relaxing and invigorating at the same time.
This color pairs well with whites and creamy sand colors.
Minwax 2024 color of the year – Bay Blue
“Bay Blue” is the 2024 color of the year from Minwax.
It’s similar to Skipping Stones (from above) but in a stain form.
So if you’re looking to stain a wood vanity, some outdoor furniture or even a door, this would be the perfect shade to bring a little bit of the ocean inside.
Valspar color of the year – Renew Blue
Renew Blue from Valspar is another green blue paint color for 2024, but it’s a little lighter in tone.
And it can make any room feel peaceful and relaxed.
So this color works well in bedrooms, bathrooms or living areas where you want to create a serene space.
Or choose from one of the other green-blue options that are popular this year.
3 | Clear Blue
The third (and last) group of blues in the 2024 paint colors list are true, clear blues.
Many are inspired by the vibrant hues found in the natural world, such as the expansive sky and charming bluebirds.
These bright blues offer a refreshing energy that can enliven a room while also providing a tranquil backdrop for daily life.
C2 Paint color of the year – Thermal
C2 Paint‘s color of the year is Thermal.
It’s a light blue that feels fresh and lively, but also has a special power to make us feel peaceful and relaxed at the same time.
When I see this color, it makes me think of looking up at a big, open blue sky.
Which is probably why I like it so much paired with cloud white.
And I love the idea of using it for kitchen cabinets. It would work equally well in a modern or traditional space.
Krylon 2024 color of the year – Bluebird
Krylon‘s 2024 color of the year is Bluebird.
It’s a bright blue spray paint paint that stands out for its ability to bring a fresh and vibrant energy to any room.
Which makes it a popular choice for those looking to inject some personality into their home decor.
Since it is spray paint, this isn’t intended to paint your walls.
But painting a table, vase or other accent piece in this color would be an excellent to add pops of it to your space.

4 | Peach and terracotta
After going through the peach phase in the 1980’s, I wasn’t sure I would ever see it trending again. But even in interior design, history repeats itself!
Peach and terracotta paint colors are making a statement in 2024 as a bright and invigorating choice for interior spaces.
This hue infuses rooms with a warm and energetic ambiance, making it a good option for those looking to inject a sense of vitality and cheerfulness into their living environment.
Pantone 2024 color of the year – Peach Fuzz
Pantone‘s 2024 color of the year is Peach Fuzz.
While they don’t produce paint, they are a leader in deciding color trends so you are likely to see a lot of peach this year.
This color is a gentle orange with a little pink mixed in, like the fuzzy skin of a peach.
It’s a fresh and stylish color that can make any space look pretty and up-to-date.
But can be pretty intense, so if you’re considering it for your walls, you may want to start with an accent wall.

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams color of the year – Persimmon
Persimmon is the 2024 color of the year for Sherwin Williams’ HGTV paint line.
This is a warm, earthy color that looks like the color of clay pots with a little bit of orange from a tangerine.
It works especially well in kitchens, living rooms and dining rooms where you want its warmth to encourage conversation without being too overwhelming.
You can also go darker or lighter than these two options by considering one of the other peach and terracotta options on this year’s list.
5 | Orange-Yellow
After being left off the list completely last year, yellow paint colors are back in 2024.
This year they tend to have an orange tint to them, giving them a sunset-like glow.
Which creates an upbeat atmosphere that is ideal for kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms where a lively and inviting vibe is desired.
Glidden color of the year – Limitless
Glidden‘s paint color of the year is Limitless.
It’s a pale orange-yellow that adds a lot of warmth to a room but doesn’t overpower it.
It’s a modern way to add a warm neutral to your space, as it will go quite well with most other colors.
While Glidden was the only company to choose yellow as its color of the year, many other companies had other versions on their 2024 trends list.
So you have a few other options, if this is the color you’re looking for.
6 | Warm Neutrals
Similar to last year, warm neutrals such as beige are making a bigger impact in the 2024 paint color trends than their gray counterparts.
These soothing tones offer a versatile foundation for any space, harmonizing beautifully with warm whites.
For those looking to create a more dynamic contrast, these neutrals also pair seamlessly with the darker shades featured in this year’s trend list, providing a sophisticated balance within your interior palette.
Farrow and Ball 2024 color trend – Jitney
While Farrow and Ball does not have a true color of the year, their color curator, Joa Studholme, did share her forecast for this years trending paint colors.
And beige was all over it, including Jitney, a mid-tone version.
She believes these shades help to create serene spaces where you can kick back and relax.
And that this color has a timeless quality which doesn’t adhere to fleeting trends.
Other companies also provided a selection of warm neutrals that range from light to dark, so there is a wide variety of colors to choose from.
7 | Dark Neutral
Dark neutral paint colors, which lean towards black with subtle undertones of green or red, are becoming increasingly popular for their ability to create a moody and sophisticated atmosphere.
The undertones add depth and complexity to the space, making these dark neutrals a stylish choice for those looking to infuse their interiors with a contemporary edge.
These hues are particularly effective in dining rooms and bedrooms, where they can create an intimate and cozy environment.
Behr 2024 color of the year – Cracked Pepper
Behr‘s 2024 color of the year is Cracked Pepper.
It’s a soft black with a little bit of green mixed in that you might not notice right away, but it makes the color more interesting.
It’s a hue that pairs well with a variety of decor styles and color palettes, making it a flexible choice for those looking to update their interiors.
Whether you use it on walls, furniture or as an accent, it’s sure to make your space look elegant and stylish.
Dutch Boy color of the year – Ironside
Ironside is Dutch Boy‘s color of the year.
It’s a dark olive green that stands out for its calming presence.
It can easily adapt to various interior styles, from modern minimalism to cozy traditional.
And according to the brand, it encourages personalization and creativity, allowing you to create a space that feels both serene and tailored to your tastes.
Farrow and Ball 2024 trends – Tanner’s Brown
Farrow and Ball also has a dark brown in their trends for this year.
Like many Farrow and Ball paints, Tanner’s Brown is unique in that it completely changes how it looks when the light changes.
In the evening, it looks almost black, which gives it a cozy and sophisticated feel.
But during the day when there’s more light, it turns into a warmer brown because of the red undertones.
This makes Tanner’s Brown a versatile choice for different spaces and lighting situations.
Of course, there are quite a few other dark neutrals to choose from if you are looking for something slightly different.
Well, those are the trends for this year. Hopefully, you’ve found something you like. Or at least been entertained by the selections.
