Printable Christmas Gift Tags

Updated: Dec 20, 2025

Today’s post isn’t really a decorating project. But since the holidays are approaching and I never seem to have gift tags for my Christmas presents when I need them, I decided to make some printable ones. That way I will never run out!

A collage of different printable Christmas gift tags with the text 24 free printable Christmas gift tags down the middle

I chose four different color schemes for my printable Christmas gift tags and two different styles, for a total of 24 different designs. (That should keep me going for a while!)

Six of them are fold-over tags where you write inside the tag.

The other 18 are flat where you write on the front of them.

Some of them are bright and colorful, others use a watercolor-style pink and green and the last sheet is just plain fun…ugly sweaters! (but still cute).

Materials

Supplies

You don’t need much to make these:

  • Paper – For the flat cards, I recommend using card stock especially if you are planning to tie them on with a ribbon. The folded ones work well with regular paper.
  • Color printer – You can also have them printed inexpensively at an office supply store such as Staples.
  • Hole punch – (optional) You only need this if you want to tie the flat gift tags onto your presents with a ribbon. (The folded gift cards work best if they are taped on).
  • Thin ribbon or string – (optional) Again, this is only required if you are going to be tying the gift tags onto your gifts.

How to make the folded gift tags

To make the folded gift tags, start by printing out the file named “Folded Christmas Gift Tags”.

Cut them out along the lines.

Fold in half.

Then you can write on the inside of the tag, which gives you more space. (I always seem to run out of room on those tiny store-bought gift tags).

How to make the flat gift tags

The flat gift tags are just as easy to make.

Download the file called “Flat Christmas Gift Tags”.

It has 2 pages, one with the ugly sweater tags and the other with the pink and green designs.

Print them out and cut out around the edges.

Then if you want to tie them onto your gifts, use a paper punch to make a hole in the top of the tag.

Push a thin ribbon or piece of string through the hole and tie the loose ends around the bow or ribbon on your present.

You can also tape the ends of the ribbon or the tag itself to the wrapping paper if that is easier.

Frequently asked questions

What If I Don’t Have A Color Printer?

Black and white printable Christmas gift tags

If you don’t happen to have a color printer, you can print them in black and white as well.

Obviously, they aren’t quite as colorful, but it will get the job done in a pinch 🙂

Alternatively, you can get them printed at an office supply shop such as Staples (it doesn’t cost very much).
